When Addiction co-founder Jerel Kwek found out from a holistic veterinarian that his dog Zack suffered from painful skin and gastrointestinal problems due to the unhealthy combinations of fats, grains, and additives in his pet foods, he decided to develop a pet food without artificial ingredients and preservatives.

His quest gradually led him to New Zealand, a land with a wide selection of free range and cage-free meat sources, as well as an abundance of fresh and natural ingredients. The co-founders then began to develop easy-to-digest recipes, which significantly improved pet patients' skin and coat health. With that, Addiction was born.

Addiction now has a manufacturing plant along New Zealand’s Western Bay of Plenty, making it the biggest and most technologically-advanced dry pet food plant in New Zealand.
