Preparing for the Holidays: 4 Tips for a Merry Season With Our Furry Friends!

The most wonderful time of year is here! As we prepare for our holiday celebrations, don't forget about our furry friends too. Here are 4 tips to keep everyone merry during this holiday season!

1. Keep Decorations Out of Reach

What better way to kick off the season's festivities than with Christmas decorations?

What better way to kick off the season's festivities than with Christmas decorations? The sparkling lights and presents under the tree are sure to bring some Christmas joy. But before you put up the Christmas tree and hang up lights, make sure you've considered the safety of your furry friends.

Electrical cords can be seen as chew toys by curious pups, or be a tripping hazard for playful dogs who like to run around. Tie down any cables and always unplug the lights when you leave the house. Secure your Christmas tree to the floor with a weighted base, or secure to the ceiling to prevent it from toppling over. Avoid any glass ornaments that can shatter and cause sharp injuries. Hang delicate or sentimental ornaments higher up on the tree so that your dog is less likely to pull them down! You can even set up an exercise pen around the Christmas tree to keep it, and your dogs, safe.

Choose some dog approved Christmas toys to add to the festive decorations! Our Furry Christmas Gift Guide features plush toys including Santa Claus and candy canes, perfect for the season.

2. Create a Doggie Menu

Create a Doggie Menu

Many delicious food items are on the menu every holiday season, but most are not suitable for our pets. Be careful when preparing your meals, especially with chocolate, grapes, and raisins, and don't forget to place your alcoholic drinks in a safe spot as well!. If you'd like to share some of your Christmas dinner with your furry friend, make sure there are no bones in the meat, and no spices like onions and garlic which are harmful to dogs.

Choose from our top quality dog food to create a safe and special doggie menu filled with the things your dog loves to eat! Our wet food comes in a variety of flavours and textures to satisfy even the pickiest eaters, freeze-dried food is packed with the delicious flavour of raw meat, and human-grade ingredients make sure your pup is getting nothing but the best. Enjoy your meal while your dog enjoys theirs!

3. Prepare For Visitors

If you will have many family and friends visiting your home over the holidays, make sure your dog has a comfortable place to rest

If you will have many family and friends visiting your home over the holidays, make sure your dog has a comfortable place to rest, away from guests if needed. Even the most outgoing dogs may need a break from all the fun and games. Not all dogs enjoy parties and suddenly having so many people in their home can be very overwhelming. If your pup is nervous around strangers, extra management steps may be needed. Make sure your guests know how to interact with your nervous dog, such as ignoring them and giving them space. Be careful when opening the front door so that your dog doesn't accidentally run out. Give them a quiet place to stay, a long-lasting chew or a toy, and don't force them to join the party. If you know your dog will be very stressed, consider moving the party to a different location!

4. Buy Some Presents!

Buy Some Presents!

Not that we need a reason to buy our dogs a present (or two or three haha), but Christmas is the perfect excuse to spoil them! Valued at up to 15% off, each hamper comes with a toy and treats that will surely put a smile on your fur kid's face.

Besides spoiling our own pets, consider donating to your local charity as well. The animals waiting for a home will definitely appreciate an extra toy or treat this holiday! Keep an eye out for Operation Santa Paws, our annual charity donation event where we collect pet items for various charities across Hong Kong. Thank you for helping us give back to the community!
